Medical Retina Fellowship

Medical Retina Fellowship Training Programme:

Objective: The candidate should become proficient in:
Performing indirect ophthalmoscopy and slit lamp biomicroscopy, fundus photography, OCT scanning and B Scan.
Diagnosing and providing comprehensive management to uveitis cases
Diagnosing various stages of diabetic retinopathy and other retinal vascular disorders
Management of Endophthalmitis cases
Perform Retinal laser treatment via slit lamp and indirect methods independently
Intravitral injections procedure for various macular disorders.
Duration:
6 months

Eligibility:
MD Ophthalmology / MS Ophthalmology / DNB Ophthalmology / DOMS

Programme Structure:
First month shall start with observing the consultants managing the retina OPD. Discussion of retinal anatomy, physiology and all retinal diagnostic modalities. Slit lamp bio microscopy and indirect ophthalmoscopy with indentation should be performed.

Use and interpretation of diagnostic modalities like OCT, B scan, FFA, ICGA to follow observing and gaining expertise in the retinal lasers

Hands-on in giving intravitral injections

Monthly grand rounds on retinal diseases and interesting cases

Original research project over 6 months (on completion of which fellowship certificate shall be given)

  • Live demonstration of basic Phaco technique on different grade of nucleus by an expert Phaco surgeon.
